Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has updated the availability of Christian Eriksen and Luke Shaw ahead of the Premier League clash with Everton at Old Trafford on Saturday, April 8.
According to the Dutchman, Manchester United will have to do without the services of their left-back, Luke Shaw, who picked up a hamstring injury during the team’s 1-0 win over Brentford on Wednesday. However, there was good news regarding Christian Eriksen, as the Dane has resumed training and will be included in the squad for the game against Everton.
The Red Devils want Eriksen back as they fight to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. United are currently fourth in the Premier League standings, three points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth place.
Eriksen’s return to fitness will be a welcome boost for Manchester United, who have lost their creative spark in midfield. The midfielder has been out since January due to an ankle injury, and his return comes at a crucial stage of the season, with the Red Devils still playing in three competitions.
Before his injury, Eriksen had become a prominent member of Ten Hag’s team, making 31 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring two goals and providing nine assists. Manchester United hope he can pick up where he left off and help them finish the season strongly.
Meanwhile, Manchester United will face an Everton side that is fighting relegation. Sean Dyche’s men are 16th in the Premier League standings, only above the relegation zone on goal difference. United will be looking to take advantage of their opponents’ struggles and secure the three points to maintain their push for Champions League qualification.
