The Golden State Warriors are currently in fifth place in the Western Conference, with a remarkable win over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Tuesday night. Down by 10 after a long break, they managed to turn the game around, showing real class in the last quarter of the match – 136:125 (36-39, 33-40, 33-27, 34-19).
Despite a tumultuous season, Colin Cowherd recently praised the Warriors for their excellent performance. Cowherd pointed out that the team has built its dynasty by nurturing and developing local talent.
Speaking on their website The Herd, the sports media people said: “The Warriors, if they win this year, with an aging Steph Curry, right after Draymond Green’s punch to Jordan Poole that inflamed the locker room, with Klay Thompson having a bizarrely good resurgence in his career when we thought the best days were over, with Andrew Wiggins missing more than 40 games, being the worst road team to make the playoffs, that will be surreal.
He added: “That’s a movie script. This is great for sports. You can call it ‘from the punch to the playoffs,’ he added.”
The Golden State Warriors face a difficult task in their quest to win their fifth championship.
After winning his fourth NBA title in the 2021-2022 season, his attempt at an encore in the 2022-2023 season didn’t go according to plan. In addition to the drama off the court, the team has struggled significantly away from home, with just nine wins in 39 games.
With a home record of 33-8, the Warriors will need to overcome their ‘road’ problems if they want to win their fifth title. Although they have a championship pedigree, pressing the button at playoff time is no easy task.
Given their current standings, it is unlikely that the Warriors will finish in the top four in the Western Conference, which implies that they will need to win at least one away game in each playoff series to secure the championship.
Although it’s impossible to count them, the warriors face an uphill battle. Winning just nine away games all season represents a significant challenge, but the Warriors have shown that they are capable of rising to the occasion.
