Party in Rio de Janeiro! José Aldo Júnior came back from retirement and beat Jonathan Martinez by unanimous decision in the bantamweight co-main event of UFC 301, in the early hours of Sunday morning (5).
The long-awaited return to the octagon of the ‘King of Rio’ featured two even initial rounds, in which the strikers answered every blow they landed. However, the final round was the one that most showed the Hall of Famer having the upper hand. Managing to rock Martinez, Aldo completed a beautiful takedown and ended the fight on top, scoring a unanimous decision victory.
With this, the 37-year-old former featherweight titleholder ends his contract with Ultimate and leaves his professional record at 32-8. On the other hand, “Dragon”, 30, sees his record go to 19-5, breaking his streak of six wins in a row.
