Totally missed the Rangers v Dundee match as I was working. I really thought we would have walked that game today. 4-0 was my prediction as the team on paper looked strong.
I can’t comment on individual performances, but from what I’m hearing and reading, again it’s the style of football we’re playing, playing out from the back, too many sideway passes and no creativity and no urgency.
Not being funny, but that was Dundee today and we were at home!
If we go 7-11 points behind in under 6 games that’s the league practically lost in a month or two of a new season. That could be a new record, not one that we want tagged with.
It’s funny as I originally thought Russell Martin would get the team good in domestic competition, but may struggle in Europe, but it’s the complete opposite as usual with our managers.
I’m not saying sack him, but if the league is lost within a month or two then I wouldn’t be against it.
I remember saying when we were searching for a manager (out with Gerrard 😜 before anyone starts lol) that I’m not sure how the manager would do in Europe.
Now, i know it’s too late as he’s just signed a 4 year contract with Hearts, but Derek McInnes knows this league like the back of his hand. If he had been appointed and backed the way Martin has been backed, I reckon he would have won the first 2 domestic games with him in charge, just my opinion.
European ‘success-wise’, I haven’t a clue how he would do, but if we really want domestic success he would have been our man in my honest opinion.
I’m not sure what will happen with Martin, it’s a new Board not sure how much time they will give him and if the worst case scenario happens and the league is lost by end of September depending on results in Europe who knows what they would do?
Can’t keep sacking managers I totally agree, but we need to stop attracting the same manager with the same philosophies and outlook on how we should set up and play the game up here. We’re drawing with Motherwell and Dundee already, we can all see it’s not going to end well. With the second game sometimes you just know and you have to be true to yourself and your gut feelings.
I can’t see us winning this league this year. The big test will be if Martin can get us into the Champions league where the money is the 49ers want. If it’s Europa, how far he can go? if it all fails miserably then we’re looking for a manager by the end of October or November time
I think we have a good, strong squad so Martin needs to prove himself over the next few weeks that he’s the right man and we better hope we’re not out of the league by the time we realise whether he is or isn’t the problem being in a two horse race.
When one side takes a decent lead straight away it’s very difficult to claw it back especially against that mob who are now used to going on winning runs, where we can’t get a League win right now so it doesn’t bode well no matter how positive a spin we put on it.
I’m like everyone else, fed up talking about the same problems, watching the same results and same lame displays in domestic football. Even though I missed that match tonight through work you get what I’m saying.
